6TH CORE- LA / SS
WELCOME I am pleased to be a part of your child's education. I hope to create stimulating educational experiences for the students, while providing an environment in which each student feels comfortable, appreciated and motivated to succeed.
DAILY CALENDAR--your student is expected to keep a daily calendar of homework assignments and activities. Please check their planner often.
PHONE-- when work is continually not completed, expect a phone call home from your child. This is especially true for big assignments.
READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS-- the district has adopted the Houghton Mifflin series that integrates reading, spelling, and language. We will be using this series in addition to our classroom novel/ literature units.
HISTORY-- the study of ancient history that includes, early
humans, Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, Greece, Israelites, and Rome. We
will use the basic text, and will be supplemented with hands on
projects, research projects, and audio- visual materials. Your child
will be required to keep a history notebook for each unit of study. We
will begin with Early Humans this year. Egypt Magazine Requirements
PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATION-- Communication is very important between the school and parents. Please feel free to call me during my prep (9:45-10:30) or before school, if needed. If your child is not doing homework, expect a phone home from your student and me. I have found this instant communication home very successful for keeping students on tack. I can also easily print out a progress report so feel free to ask for one anytime.
